China Gourmet fails to be gourmet. Maybe I'm spoiled having grown up in the city but, this restaurant leaves much to be desired. To be fair, it was ready in a jiffy and fairly priced. I got the moo shoo pork (sp?) And was satisfied, but my companion ordered a simple chicken cashew and it didn't go well. Now I understand that not all Chinese restaurants have the same recipes but, maybe a dish called chicken cashew could have some chicken in it. However, it did have the authentic zucchini, cooked until mushy, and in great quantity. Zucchini says Chinese to me! The last complaint maybe just me, and my like-minded companion: the cashews were an after thought. They were toss on raw, at the end, over the slimy zucchini. In my experience they're apart of the dish (with chicken!) I love zucchini. Really I do. And maybe in authentic Chinese food it's a staple. But if you're looking for authentic Chinese find the nearst large city and its version of China Town. You'll be shocked to find what the Chinese serve each other is nothing like what they feed the everyday customers. In all, to be fair, my dish was fine and maybe they were low on chicken that night.

We have been down here several times on vacation and eat at China Gourmet every time we are here. We have always had excellent service, excellent food and look forward to the large portions that give me left overs the next day (or two)! Thank you, look forward to the next trip!

Absolutely great food. Cooked to order so it is fresh and plentiful. Better be hungry. Call in to save time. You probably won't get a table so take it home and feast. Special fried rice and sweet sour chicken dishes are really good. Gotta try a new dish next time. Love it.

Best Chinese I've had in this part of Florida. I was a fan of the crab rangoon, although, not much of a crab taste, which I prefer over the odd (and off) "crab" taste. I mean fried wonton's with cream cheese still taste great dipped in an extra spicy General's sauce. I'm kind of excited to go back and get the food court staple "Bourbon chicken" have not had that in easily 10 years. ..not very Chinese, but I get who they are catering to. $5.25 before 3pm. Takeout only for me.

china gourmet... pretty gourmet for the villages. this colony spot can hit that chinese food craving you may be jonesing for. it's pretty standard chinese food, but not too greasy, and overall just pretty much straightforward cheap, hole in the wall chinese food. my sister and i came here on a thursday night for a "girls night" with my aunt and mom when we were in town. my aunt said this place was "the best" for the villages, and good. i assumed because it was asian, they liked to support such causes when in the villages, because it is a rarity. but i know if we were either back in chicago or in san diego, my parents may not come here... but... all in all... it's not too bad. seeing that my mom and aunt want to support the cause, they ordered a buffet of food, and based by the fact that we had 3 bags of leftovers left after it was all said and done, we over ordered. some things were better than others.. the shanghai style noodles had curry, and actually were quite tasty. the general tso chicken was pretty standard to any chinese joint [side story: overhead the next guy ask what the different b/w general tso chicken and orange chicken. no real explanation was delivered.. but really, what is the difference??!]. but the shrimp w/ lobster sauce is pretty bland, and not so tasty.. it was in dire need of salt and soy sauce perhaps. the lady behind the counter is sweet, polite, and very patient. she checked on us quite often and offered even to help clear our table and box our food up. considering this is a plastic forks kind of place, i was pleasantly surprised on the attention and good customer service. overall, would come back here again. probably would do take out though. the spot is a bit small, and if you're dining in and if its cold, when the door opens, you can feel the draft come in.. brrr... i can't handle 50 degree weather!

My favorite Chinese. Super friendly. They remember your favorites, consistently good and generous portions. I get dinner and two lunches from an order.

Nice dedicated people work here. Freshest of ingredients. BUT---the 4 different dishes hubby and I have ordered there were very bland. It does a good business in take out. Just needs more seasoning...I guess I will have to try a "spicy" dish to some flavor here.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
